English Translation

Early Morning

The clouds, from which first rain poured,

have spread themselves with pure gold in the early morning

the gold slowly fades away,

and is covered, as with tears, covered, as with dew,

the sky turns blue in places,

the night stood at the ,

the clouds have drawn away the glowing rays

the night has gone, the sky is bright,

but still drawn with night's tears.

The word English cannot carry

the night stood at the threshold,

shvel

The shvel is the doorsill a soul crosses between worlds. In Yiddish folk belief the threshold is a charged, liminal place, so a figure "at the threshold" is more than a spatial detail.
