Heyliker Georg!
Du host ayngeshtilt mayn vildn Has tsu dir,
vi der Heyliker Georg
dem Drakon.
Itst bin ikh gut un frum,
ikh lig bay dayne Fis
un zing tsu dir a Gebet,
O, heyliker Georg!
Holy George!
You have quieted my wild hatred for you,
like Holy George
the dragon.
Now I am good and pious,
I lie at your feet
and sing you a prayer,
O, Holy George!

The word English cannot carry
,און זינג צו דיר אַ געבעט
and sing you a prayer,
tfile
Tfile is fixed liturgical prayer (from Hebrew), distinct from spontaneous pleading. To sing a tfile to a lover borrows sacred devotion and bends it toward the profane.
