'Tohre-shtibl' = tahara house (Hebrew 'tahara' = purification) - the ritual washing room for the dead. 'Bretl mit a numer' = board with a number - humble pauper's grave marker. Nathan is buried 'in shkhenshaft mit Edelshtats matseyve' (in neighborhood with Edelstadt's gravestone) - near David Edelstadt's grave. Edelstadt's famous poem appears again on his granite monument. 'Kenigraykh fun fiber' = kingdom of fever - the tuberculosis sanatorium. 'Helzyer' = consumptives (those with TB). The poem ends with wonder at the sacred vision witnessed only by the dying at the foot of the Rocky Mountains - 'aza zeung' (such a vision) only the tubercular patients have seen.

nine ten men by the uncovered grave,
